M&CR 26 1900s Maryport MPD
The success of the North Eastern Railway's 'BTP' Bogie Tank Passenger 0-4-4s provided the ideal template for the solitary Maryport & Carlisle Railway's No. 26 probably seen as new in 1897 outside Maryport's diminutive engine shed. No.26 was built at Maryport in May 1897 and was withdrawn circa April 1924 still in M&C livery. LMS No. 10618 was allocated but never carried. By 1918 the M&CR had become one of Britain's most profitable railways!
