BR 25kv Energising Unit. No. M218853 Build and withdrawal dates unknown. The unit is built on an ex-LMS ex LNWR wagon chassis, termed by that railway as a 'Chemical Pan Wagon' buy known to others as a well wagon. The Styal line route from Manchester to Wilmslow was the 1959 test-bed for BR's 25kv elecrtification scheme that was to become standard for the network. Pictured at a location probably adjacent to the East Didsbury Sidings engineering depot, energising unit No. M218853 is seen in action. Little information regarding this vehicle seems to exist (anyone?).
