10000 1951 Crewe

The ex-LMS Ivatt 'D16/1' class Co-Co Diesel No. 10000 is pictured departing from Crewe in 1951 with the up 'Red Rose' from Liverpool Lime Street to Euston. Built at Derby in Nov. 1947 it would be withdrawn in Dec. 1963. A project to recreate this pioneering locomotive is currently underway.
