The ex-LMS Ivatt 'D16/1' class Co-Co Diesel No. 10000 is pictured at Crewe in 1951 with the Down 'Red Rose' from Euston to Liverpool Lime Street on the through line. Built at Derby in Nov. 1947 it would be withdrawn in Dec. 1963. A project to recreate this pioneering locomotive is currently underway.
