There are (or were before the electric catenary arrived) few more beautiful scenes on Britain's railway network than the area at Dillicar, just south of Tebay in Westmorland. Now preserved, BR 'Class 40' D212 (later TOPS 40012) heads a down London to Carlisle express in the 1960s.
