The fine ex-Highland Railway MPD buildings, opened in 1898 at Aviemore in Morayshire, are now in the safe hands of the heritage Strathspey Railway. Earlier times saw the arrival of BR Derby-built 'Class 24' Bo-Bo D5122, a very short -lived locomotive with only eight years service following an accident at Castlecary in September 1968.
