Peter Kerslake says "Although the chimney has been covered 5570 looks as though it is destined for the cutters' torches, the locomotive having been allocated to Machynlleth in its earlier years.
Although work worn, the lined green livery is still visible as is the sloping top to the water tank with the increased capacity from that of the earlier members of the class with their straight tops."
Actually 5570 was re-allocated to Southall in November 1963 before being withdrawn, however but it may have been a 'paper move' only as it was almost immediately condemned.
