GWR 45XX class 2-6-2T No 4554 at Truro shed on May 3, 1953.

Peter Kerslake says "A fine portrait of 4554 on her home shed at Truro, one of about a dozen or so allocated there in the mid 'fifties.
The "4500's" here at Truro together with those at the nearby St . Blazey depot were the mainstay of passenger workings on the Chacewater to Newquay line in particular, the largest class permitted to work that route, often heading formidable loads on Summer Saturdays in particular with Newquay being such a popilar holiday resort.
The unusul gantry seen here was introduced in an effort to speed up coaling, with loaded wagons being propelled out from the coaling plant and positioned above the bunkers or tenders of waiting locomotives below.
A substantial water tank is above, and part of the main shed is just visible, all buildings having been constructed from local Cornish granite and dating back to 1900 with the complex being a compact and well maaintained establishment situated below the dwellings of the Highertown part of Truro.
4554 had been the last of the batch of fifteen built at Swindon during 1914 and 1915."
