'4575' No.5511 setting off from Plymouth North Road for Tavistock and Launceston on 1st September 1961. It was transferred to Laira in October 1958 from Bristol Bath Road and was withdrawn at the end of 1961. But what is all that on the front framing ahead of the steam pipe? The building under construction is the new Railway Administrative Centre, built when it was proposed that Plymouth was to be such centre, but later left virtually empty for many years when the centre was changed to Swindon. It's still almost empty today!
