This view is looking westwards towards the foot of Rattery Bank and Totnes is even today looking very much the same as it does in this photograph , with its two through roads running between the up and down platfform roads .
Unfortunately the busy creamery formerly in operation at the eastern end of the station is no more but then neither is the daily milk train which picked up loaded tank wagons on its way from Penzance to Kensington ,

A Westcountry based engine during a lifetime of some thirty years , little 4561 had been allocated down in Cornwall at Truro according to my 1956 Shedbook before a later move eastwards into Devon , so I suggest that this view is a late 1950's image , 4561 being later withdrawn in 1962.
One of the first preserved locomotives to reach the West Somerset Railway following a reprieve from Barry yards in September of 1975 it was the first of three such tank engines to be restored at that Heritage Railway , returning back in service there in September of 1989
