Gara Bridge was a small station on the line from South Brent ( on the main W.R. route between Newton Abbot and Plymouth ) and Kingsbridge in the South Hams of Devon and this delightful image captures the typical Devon rural scenery at its best on this remote branch line.
In earlier years 4561 was allocated to Truro M.P.D. in Cornwall , but she was a true Westcountry locomotive for thirty years or so before being condemned in 1962 . Happily , however , that was not the end of the story as 4561 was saved for preservation from Dai Woodham's at Barry in 1975 , going to the West Somerset Railway where she remains to this day .
