In the 1950s, in common with most passenger express locomotives, the 'A1s' were very well groomed. Witness smart 'Scottish Union' arriving at King's Cross with an up express in this era. BR Peppercorn 'A1' 4-6-2 No. 60125 was built at Doncaster in April 1949 and was withdrawn in July 1964.
