60114 1960s York MPD

The only locomotive to be named after a General Secretary of the ASLEF trade union was 'W.P. Allen'. Highly regarded and respected, William Philip Allen (1888-1958) was a railwayman and trades union leader his entire working life.

BR Peppercorn 'A1' 4-6-2 No. 60114 catches the late afternoon light in York MPD's yard on an unrecorded date in the 1960s. She was built at Doncaster in Aug. 1948 and was withdrawn in Dec. 1964
