E717 1930c Plymouth Friary

A pair of T9 4-4-0s, Nos E717 and E718, head away from Plymouth Friary with an unidentified train (Plymouth-Brighton ?) in c1930.

Peter Kerslake says "Having just started from the termius at Plymouth Friary this working is now passing the Southern Railway Friary Motive Power Depot and will take the Southern line to Exeter skirting North Dartmoor and calling at Tavistock North and Okehampton, a long way round when compared with the Great Western direct line via Newton Abbot".
