North Eastern Railway designed Raven/Thompson 'B16/3' class 4-6-0 No. 61444. Built at Darlington in May 1923 as LNER No. 2373, rebuilt from class 'B16/1' to 'B16/3' in May 1945 and withdrawn in June 1964.

During World War II, some B16s were transferred to the Great Central Main Line, working around Banbury and Woodford Halse. After World War II, the B16s continued with their pre-war duties and also as far south as Peterborough, where they occasionally substituted for a failed V2s or B1s. On ex-GC metals, York allocated 61444 strides northwards at Bagthorpe, Nottingham.
