The demise of Sir Vincent Raven's fine ex-NER 'B16/1' class of mixed traffic 4-6-0s came to an end in 1961. North Road scrapyard in Darlington sees 61445 largely still intact including its smokebox numberplate! The rebuilt and modified Gresley and Thompson versions of the 'B16s' lasted for several more years finally becoming extinct in 1964. This photo was taken on Monday 10th July 1961.
