61420 1961-03-12 Annesley

York allocated B16 4-6-0s such as No.61420 on 12th March 1961 often worked down to Annesley but were despised by the crews there. They were especially difficult to clean out so the staff on disposal duties saw it as their mission in life to send them back up north as quickly as possible! No.61420 was transferred from York in December 1962 for its final allocation at Hull Dairycoates; from September 1963 it would not need its fire raked out again.
