Simultaneous departures were always an exciting sight. Racing away from Scarborough in the 1950s and passing the MPD, are ex-LNER Gresley 'D49/2' 4-4-0 No. 62739 'The Badsworth' and NER designed Raven/Thompson 'B16/3' 4-6-0 No. 61439.

Both locomotive classes were very typical of Scarborough's allocations (and visitors) until the early 1960s. 62739 was built at Darlington in May 1932 as LNER No. 232 and was withdrawn in Oct. 1960. 61439 was built at Darlington in Feb. 1923 as LNER No. 2368 and was withdrawn in Aug. 1962.
