61929 1952 Selby

61929 1952 Selby

Ex-LNER Gresley 'K3' class 2-6-0 No. 61929. Built by Robert Stephenson & Hawthorn in August 1934 as LNER No. 1325 and withdrawn in July 1962.

The burly and purposeful front view of Gresley's 'K3s' was always an impressive sight. Seen from a southbound train, 61929 rolls into Selby with a down van freight on an unrecorded date in 1952. The lines curving away to the right are towards Leeds. Selby's ex-NER Shed is in the fork of the lines just past the platelayer's hut seen beyond Bawtry Road Bridge.
