Two locomotives have arrived at Selby on trains from York and Hull in about 1955 and are now coupled together for the short journey to the engine shed. The signal gantry which spanned the running lines is prominent in this picture as well as the tangerine-backed station nameboard. The locomotives concerned are Class K3 No 61941 (53A) and Class D49 No 62731 Selkirkshire (50A).
