LNWR 7F 0-8-0 No 9295 at Shap Summit in c1928. A lovely image of a 'Super D' starting to descend Shap. It still has a smokebox number plate which was fitted, on the instructions of Derby, when renumbered to 9295 in early 1927. Crewe would soon get rid of it. Originally built as a G1 in 1918 and numbered 2297 it would have acquired the Belpaire firebox while still carrying this no in 1924. It was never upgraded to G2 and remained a G1 until withdrawn in 1948. It was vacuum fitted from new.
