Super D' No. 49173 from Edge Hill at Liverpool Riverside on 6th June 1959 with the Stephenson Locomotive Society and Manchester Locomotive Society's 'Merseyside Rail Tour'. Note the newly re-laid turnout made from flatbottom rail. No. 49173 took the train to Edge Hill via Waterloo Dock where it failed with a cracked cylinder. The tour was taken forward by its Edge Hill classmates No. 49434 and No. 49224 and visited Alexandra Dock, Aintree and Garston Dock before terminating at Lime Street.
