D1000 1961 West Ealing
On the regular running-in turn from Paddington to Swindon, the 3C07 Paddington-Plymouth parcels. D1000 Western Enterprise began trials from Swindon in November 1961, and went into traffic at the end of December in desert sand with a grey roof, black cab window surrounds, red bufferbeam and red buffer stocks. It carried two aluminium BR LMR ac electric pattern crests positioned diagonally under the cab windows at the opposite end from the numberplates, and these lasted until it was repainted blue in June 1967. It did not have a yellow warning panel until November 1962 and it was eventually repainted into standard maroon with a small yellow warning panel in October 1964.
