At its home shed during the 1950s, 42834 was a long-term resident at Kingmoor, from February 1936 until withdrawal at the end of 1962. It has St. Rollox style 10in cab numbers with a plain 5 power classification above. 42834 has single air relief valves, later pattern buffers and a coal rail tender.
