'Crab' 2-6-0 No.42824 with bagged up chimney at Burton on 25 August 1962 following withdrawal on 5th July. It was one of five members of the class to be fitted with Lentz Rotating Cam valve gear in 1931/2. 42824 was modified again in January 1954 with Reidinger poppet valve gear after which it was tested at the Rugby Test Plant in 1954/5 following which it was transferred to Burton. It underwent further testing in 1956 before returning to Burton for the final time
