Skipton in North Yorkshire is the self-styled "gateway to the Yorkshire Dales". It was also the location for the ex-Midland Railway's modest shed situated on the decidedly unbucolic 'Engine Shed Lane' on the western (and very rural) edge of town. Once with an allocation of some 40 freight and passenger tank locomotives, the 1950s saw a decline to less than 20. This view has an anonymous Fowler '4F' and ex-Midland Rly. Johnson '1P' 0-4-4 Tank No. 1366 by the turntable. Circa 1950.
