602 1920s York

602 1920s York

Visiting 'foreign' locomotives at York were often (but not always) turned, watered and serviced at York South MPD. This lovely 1930s evening scene looking south, captures LMS Fowler '2P' 4-4-0 No. 602 between the York South signal cabin and York South MPD just to the right but not in view. The large girder bridge carrying Holgate Road is beyond. LMS 602 was built at Derby in Nov. 1928 and was withdrawn in Oct. 1961 as BR No. 40602.
