A rare picture of the daily goods from Middlesbrough to Whitby which took the picturesque Esk Valley line and is seen here at Kildale (between Great Ayton and Commondale) on 7th August 1959. The line is uphill at this point and Q6 No 63432 was working hard but making brisk progress. The station name board (tangerine painted) is in still place above the abandoned and overgrown up platform. Two further pictures of this train were taken as it passed through Kildale station.
