A final view of the daily Whitby goods as it heads through Kildale in the direction of Commondale on Friday 7th August 1959. The up platform at Kildale had been abandoned. The down platform (originally towards Middlesbrough) was now in sole use for both directions. In earlier times, the line was busy enough for there to be passing points such as Kildale.
