63455 having departed from Washington Colliery heading towards Glebe Colliery, about to cross the footpath which ran between No.73 & 75 Bede Crescent, Washington. There was double track at both locations and the train is on the single line between them.

No doubt the photographer was dissapointed with the lack of exhaust from NER Q6 0-8-0 No 63455 as it leaves Washington on 9 June 1967 heading for the main line at Washington South Junction along the old 'Washington Waggonway' with its load of coal hoppers. The last coal from Washington colliery was drawn to the surface on 21 June 1968.
