Peter Kerslake says "Situated right on the coast the little unmanned halt at Gogarth was just a mile or so from Dovey Junction and although there were no houses nearby the majority of its passengers would have been walkers and holiday makers from the camping sites close by .
Constructed in July of 1923 the halt was an early addition to the line by the G.W.R. , but the need for constant repair to the little iron hut and wooden platform brought an end to stopping services there in May of 1984 , followed by its demolition just four months later .
The line from here eastwards to Dovey Junction was open to the high tides and storms so common on this northern shoreline of Dovey Eastury , and had been constructed using embankments where possible together with large rocks to provide additional protection" .
