On a mixed rake of LNER ad LMS stock

This view is of 82009 running into the far platform at Afon Wen from the terminus at Pwllheli , the western side of the station .
Afon Wen , some 27 miles west of Barmouth , owed its existence to the fact that it was the meeting point of the former London and North Western , later the London Midland and Scottish and then the Midland Region line from Chester and the North with the Cambrian system , providing a vital link for the holidaymakers in the North of Eng;and seeking the Cambrian resorts of Pwllheli and Aberystwyth .
82009 was one of four of her class drafted to the Cambrian in the late ' fifties when the " Dukedogs " and other veterans of the Cambrian were nearing the end of their days , but the Standard Tanks , with their limited water capacity did not last long and were replaced by the larger " 82000 " Standards with larger capacity water tanks.
