82003 1963c Approaching Llwyngwril

This view is looking southwards at Llwyngwril , towards Towyn , the station here being some mid way between Barmouth Junction to the northand Dovey Junction to the south. Standard 82003 is doubtless heading a Pwllheli bound working northwards from Dovey Junction , the Standard Class Three tank engines having replaced earlier classes associated with the Cambrian but , like the former Great Western 4500 series of past days they had a limited water capacity which restricted them to use on shorter duties , and they were later replaced by the larger Standard Class of 82000 series . The line between here and Towyn to the south was steeply graded despite its appearance in this view !
