LMS 5XP 4-6-0 No.5992 on the turntable at Nottingham, London Road carriage sidings c1933. It shows several of the detail differences of the engines which came out of the Crewe Paint Shop compared with those painted at Derby. The stock numbers were 12in. high, the ‘5X’ power classification was positioned between the cab window and rear cut-out, the cab window frames were black and the 14in. tender lettering was offset to avoid the rivets on the tank sides. Note the flat section beading around the edges of the smoke deflectors.
