41284 working the South and West Railway Society special train at Melcombe Regis on 27 March 1965 to celebrate the centenary of the Weymouth-Portland line. The train made three round trips between Melcombe Regis and Easton. The branch officially closed to passengers in 1952, but on summer Saturdays Melcombe Regis, which was just outside Weymouth, often handled overspill from the main Weymouth station.
