In October 1959 two Ivatt 2-6-2Ta were transferred to Wellington to replace GWR 41xx 2-6-2Ts on the passenger workings to Crewe via Market Drayton. Three others arrived in 1960, including 41231 which moved from Wrexham Rhosddu. It was on shed shortly after, on 12 April 1960.
