41265 at Malton passing over Bridge 15, looking north towards Scarborough. The train having previously passed under this bridge from Scarborough would stop at Malton station. The station pilot, 41265, then attached to the rear and hauled the complete train backwards up the connecting spur to Scarborough Road Junction on the Driffield to Thirsk line. 41265 would then uncouple to allow the train to proceed forwards to Pilmoor Junction where it would gain access to the northbound ECML. 41265 is seen here banking the train away from Scarborough Road Junction to the viaduct over the River Derwent. This was a regular movement for holiday trains from Scarborough to the North East and Scotland, avoiding reversal at the busy York station
