After leaving Canklow in July 1962
41209 found its way to Shrewsbury at the end of 1962 via Bristol St. Philips Marsh and Barrow Road. It was one of six of the class transferred to Shrewsbury to replace 41xx Prairies on the Severn Valley line in its final two years.
