41209 was allocated to Millhouses from September 1953 until January 1962 when it went to Canklow for six months. It spent most of its time working as a station pilot at Sheffield Midland station. This picture was probably taken in 1960 or 1961 since it has a 41C shedplate and a later BR emblem acquired during a Heavy General overhaul completed in May 1960. In the background are the Park Hill flats, inspired by the renowned French architect Le Corbusier. These were part of what was the largest social housing estate of its type in Europe when it was built between 1957 and 1961. Park Hill was given Grade II Listed status in 1998 and is currently being renovated.
