41286 1960s Southport
At 277 feet high, Southport's huge gasholder was a landmark for miles around. It was very much a 'Marmite' edifice and as such, was controversial throughout its 40-year life (1969-2009). One of the BR built push-pull fitted, Ivatt '2MT' 2-6-2 Tanks No. 41286 passes by in the 1960s with a wagon freight. 41286 was built at Crewe in Nov. 1960 and was withdrawn in Nov. 1966.
