'Mars' 1950s Seaham

'Mars' 1950s Seaham

The 0-6-0ST at Seaham named ‘Mars’ carried no number. It was an old Robert Stephenson ex-NER locomotive (purchased 1908), dating from 1875. (A similar partner was named ‘Milo’). They were both used to draw chaldron wagons out of ‘the hole’ at Seaham’s North Berth. Both were scrapped in July 1963. Their nameplates were old NER numberplates from which the numbers had been removed and replaced with letters.
