7822 1962-04-05 Aberystwyth

GWR Manor 4-6-0 No 7822 Foxcote Manor heads away from Aberystwyth with the 6pm train to Shrewsbury on April 5, 1962. This 6 pm off Aberystwyth was officially advertised as the Whitchurch service. Arriving at Welshpool at 8.38 pm. The train split here, the first three coaches plus the train engine going to Whitchurch departing at 8.43 pm while the salop portion departed 8.55 pm.

Peter Kerslake says "7822 was saved from Barry scrapyard in early 1975 and was restored at Oswestry and returned to duty in September 1987 thanks to the efforts of the Llangollen Railway Society.
So long associated with the Cambrian the "Manors" had first worked the line from 1943 when 7808 "Cookham Manor" had been transferred from Gloucestershire to the Cambrian. They replaced the 43XX "Moguls" and "Dukedogs" on the more lengthy and heavier workings."
