Thanks to Alan Dunn for some modern detective work we now know this is Clatchard Craig Quarry, Newburgh on the Ladybank to Hilton Junction line. The view is SE from somewhere along the northern boundary of the quarry with the houses at Denmylne in the centre middle distance.
