69211 from 62A Thornton Junction is seen in the works yard at Cowlairs. Fresh from the paintshop it superficially shows what the works was capable of doing rather than what we all remember of just patching up leaking tanks and producing inferior cast works plates. It has a painted LNER style Thornton on the buffer beam and the power classification 4MTT above the number. However all is not well as looking at works record this must be 1957 as 69211 visited Cowlairs for a General overhaul from 17th June to 10th July but re-entered just nine days later for Classified Light repairs which lasted until August 17th!
