On what looks to have been a lovely summer’s day two four coupled engines pose for the camera at Gateshead in June 1948. Visitor from Blaydon, ex-NER G5 0-4-4T No 67265, recently renumbered but still carrying LNER on the tanks lies ahead of Gateshead resident Class D49 No 2745 ‘The Hurworth’ which has not yet been renumbered. At the rear is another ‘Hunt’ -Gateshead had an allocation of eleven of them in 1948.
