In what is possiby one of the finest photos taken of a Lord Nelson 4-6-0, No.E853 Sir Richard Grenville passes Orpington with the first part of the 2.0pm Victoria-Dover Marine boat train in 1929 when the engine was coupled to a 4,000 gallon six-wheeled tender which it had from new until February 1930. R.H.N.Hardy thinks the fireman looking out is the young Sammy Gingell.
