York South MPD was home to 'visiting' locomotives. This is where Midland Railway Johnson '2' (LMS '2F') 0-6-0 No. 1606 is with its driver on a fine day in the early 1900s. It is seen before re-numbering in 1907 to MR 3104. The immaculate appearance of even such a humble freight 0-6-0 is a credit to its crew and the Midland Railway. This Beyer Peacock 1883 built locomotive was withdrawn in 1936.
