5038 1963-05-05 Reading
Peter Kerslake adds "The twin lamps on 5038 Morlais Castle were not only appropriate for an express passenger duty but also correct for an engine on station pilot duties, which is what 5038 appears to be relegated to in this view just four months before it was condemned at Reading in September 1963.
Built in June 1935 Morlais Castle spent most of its time at Old Oak Common but was also at Shrewsbury and Oxford and from October 1962 was shedded at Reading."
