Peter Kerslake says "5029 appears to be in a bad way losing steam from all the wrong places. It was being withdrawn in 1964 following which it spent twelve years languishing in the open at Woodhams' scrapyard at Barry before being saved for preservation and moved to Didcot in May 1976. It returned to steam in December 1990."
