5066 1961-08-26 Newton Abbot

Castle No.5066 Sir Felix Pole at Newton Abbot on the Down 'Torbay Express' on 26th August 1961. The North British Type 2s ready for pilot duties are Nos. D6335 and D6319.
Peter Kerslake adds "5066 was originally Wardour Castle when built in July 1937 until renamed in honour of the last General Manager of the G.W.R. in a renaming ceremony conducted by his son at Paddington on 24th April 1956. An Old Oak Common engine for the whole of its working life, 5066 is running non-stop on the Down through road. Newton Abbot and Old Oak Common shared the 'Torbay Express' duties and in this case it was Old Oak which was working the twelve noon departure from Paddington."
